The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix

The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix. Five ladies: Patricia, Greene, Grace, Kitty and Maryellen, team up to capture and kill James Harris –the vampire. The ladies have a book club in which they discuss mostly true crime books. One day Patricia meets James who has just arrived in town and his aunt dies in strange circumstances. Patricia initially helps James to settle down in the town, but then she realizes there is something wrong with James. Patricia sees James attacking a little girl, but her husband does not believe her. Patricia seeks help from her girlfriends and from police, but her husband does not support the accusations, and somehow James ends up being a member in the book club.

Years later  James has made his way to get more and more involved in the town’s life  and in Patricia’s family.  Eventualy she and  the other ladies finally work together to capture James.  The book is a combination of comedy and horror and my personal opinion is that the book is going to work better as a movie. For crime and suspense there are tons of better options.
